Older Adults

It’s never too late to start therapy.

You’re entering your golden era, and you’re adjusting to a new way of life.

Retirement is often celebrated and painted as the thing to look forward to. You hear things like, “You finally have all the time in the world to do whatever your heart desires!” “You get to sleep in!” “You’re finally free of responsibilities!” And,

“What are you going to do with all this free time?”

In theory, this all sounds great. But then who are you without your job title? What is your purpose now?

Entering your golden era can

Seasons of loss.

Retirement has been difficult.

In my previous work, I worked with adults ages 60 and up.

Coming into this era of your life can be disheartening. This period comes with what’s called the Season of Loss.

This includes:

  • Losing your job to retirement

  • Losing your parents and friends to death

  • Losing your kids who are living their own lives

  • Losing your physical mobility

  • Losing your mind to mental deterioration

  • Losing your voice (and being dismissed as old)

Phew! That’s a lot of loss. And there’s a good chance it feels like life is passing by whether you want it to or not.

In my therapeutic work with older clients, we’ll navigate the complexities that come with aging, understand how you’re coping (and if it’s working for you), and work together to explore how we can feel more in the driver’s seat on this journey that is still in your hands (even if it doesn’t feel like it).

Navigating aging and loss isn’t easy — I’d be honored to walk alongside you to help you figure it out.
